There’s something about weddings that start with friendship—you can feel it in every part of the day. Abby and Zach’s wedding at Scotland Fields in York, Maine was the kind of celebration that reminded me why I love what I do: real connection, genuine joy, and just the right amount of unpredictability (thank you, New England weather ).
It was my first time photographing a wedding at Scotland Fields, and I have to say—what a venue. With open fields, unique getting ready spaces (with killer light), and a laid-back vibe, it felt like the perfect backdrop.
One of my favorite parts of the day was how flexible and easygoing these two were. The weather forecast had us all refreshing our apps nonstop that week, and while they hadn’t originally planned to do a first look, we pivoted last-minute to take advantage of a break in the rain. Their willingness to adapt set the tone for the day—that the details didn’t matter as much as being present and focused on what truly mattered. (And yes, the weather turned out to be chef’s kiss).
Their whole day was filled with emotion and intentionality. From Abby’s tearful first look with her dad, to their heartfelt vows, to her sister’s maid of honor speech—it was all so personal and meaningful. Her sister said it best: Abby and Zach’s relationship began with friendship, and that foundation was felt by everyone there.
I could go on (because, honestly, there were so many moments I loved), but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Abby and Zach, thank you for letting me be part of such a heartfelt and joy-filled day. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton!
